The 50th Munich Security Conference will take place from January 31 to February 2, 2014. Shortly before the conference, you will find the MSC's agenda here.
Close to twenty heads of state and government and fifty foreign and defense ministers are expected to participate in the conference. German President Joachim Gauck will open the conference with a speech on the afternoon of January 31. The German federal government will be represented by Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen, and Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière. Moreover, conference chairman Wolfgang Ischinger is expecting, among many others, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, US Secretary of State John Kerry, US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. Key issues to be debated include the crisis in Syria, the negotiations over Iran's nuclear program, and cybersecurity.
