Chapter of the book : Philosophies of technologies (Wiley 2024) Anna Longo’s chapter, “Predictive Machines and Overcoming Metaphysics”, questions the logician’s dream of reducing all forms of thought to calculation, a dream that would find its place in “artificial intelligence”. Playing on the opposition between Carnap and Heidegger, the logician defends the singularity of thought and its irreducibility to mere calculation. The author then, in her words, proposes “the creation of a technology that enables us to see the world as something other than a set of information patterns”
