Friends of Europe is pleased to announce the publication of its most recent
Development Policy Forum (DPF) 'Future World' summary of debate of 9 March 2010 : Human security in the Arab world: Defining a role for Europe, organised by Friends
of Europe, in partnership with the World Bank, the UN, France's Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the UK's Department for International Development (DFID), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für
Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) with the support of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and in association with the European Commission Directorate General for
Development and Relations with ACP States.
Amat Al Alim Alsoswa, Assistant Secretary-General of the UNDP insisted that "I believe that we in the Arab world and the EU have to learn from each other
and a lot to offer each other. There has been a lot of work done and we are working every day to accomplish more. We are winning this battle and are ready to continue working together to develop
human security in the region." The other panellists supported her, agreeing that the promotion of human security needs to be treated with greater significance within the region, and that the EU
has an important role to play as well.
